Music Queensland

Tune in to Queensland's musical heritage

Music Queensland is the State Library's digital music collection, and contains digitised copies of historically significant music scores about our State. Queensland places, people, events and pastimes are highlighted in this collection. Some of the scores have accompanying sound recordings, which you can listen to while you view the scores. Music Queensland is a contributor to Music Australia, a portal to Australian music resources held in the National Library of Australia and many other repositories.

How old is the music in the collection?

Most of the music digitised in Music Queensland is published before 1930, as most items published after 1930 are still in copyright.

Can I copy Music Queensland scores?

Most music scores in the Music Queensland database are out of copyright and you can print, copy or download them for private research or study purposes without asking for permission. This includes using a music score or part of a music score in a school assignment.

What about listening?

Around twenty of the scores in Music Queensland have accompanying sound recordings. You will need an internet connection speed of 56kbps or greater to listen without long delays.
